Sayulita, Mexico has become an increasingly popular destination wedding location within recent years. It attracts bohemians from across the globe that fall in love with the beautiful beaches, chill surfer lifestyle, steamy jungle and vibrant art scene. With the opening of Sayulita’s newest wedding and event venue, a boho-tique called Villa Valentin, we took the opportunity to style a shoot that highlights the very best that Sayulita has to offer.
When I first saw Villa Valentin, it was one of the few times that I have set foot into a venue that seemed to mirror my own personal design aesthetic. The villa has beautiful sweeping jungle and ocean views. It has clean, minimalist lines with lots of bohemian and natural inspired, Mexican décor. I had been dreaming about doing a shoot that honored Mexican design with a modern, organic twist. Almost every décor item pictured in the shoot is either produced or purchased locally. Much of my mission in planning and designing weddings and events in Mexico is to both highlight and support local artists and designers and this shoot does exactly that. The tablescape is an eclectic mix of linens, dinnerware, and candles almost exclusively sourced in Mexico, with the exception of the table runner. Many of the products I purchased directly at fair trade cooperatives in my travels around Mexico.
